Seniors First

Raising Voices,

Inspiring Action

Seniors First partnered with &Barr to elevate awareness and understanding of its client-centered services for older adults across Central Florida. &Barr positioned the nonprofit as a leading advocate for seniors, inspiring volunteers, donors, and community partners to support its mission.
Media Relations: Telling the Seniors First Story

&Barr strategically focused on media to amplify the voices of Seniors First clients and showcase the nonprofit’s direct impact on seniors’ daily lives. By completing media trainings and positioning leadership for interview opportunities, we highlighted how Seniors First make an impact and also addressed misconceptions about the aging population. This ultimately brought awareness to why the services are so essential to the region.

Our efforts centered on feature coverage of key programs, while also connecting donor events and community partnerships to the broader narrative of impact. We further elevated visibility by coordinating with Mayor Jerry Demings and Mayor Buddy Dyer to participate in Meals on Wheels deliveries, a timely and engaging opportunity that generated strong coverage during March for Meals.

Through consistent outreach, &Barr secured 370+ media placements with more than 373 million impressions. These stories not only reinforced the nonprofit’s mission but also supported recruitment of volunteers with hopes of inspiring new donations.

Executive Support: Elevating Leadership and Voice

At the same time, &Barr developed and implemented a comprehensive executive communications strategy to strengthen the voice of Seniors First President and CEO, Marsha Lorenz. We identified local events that expanded her community presence and provided her with tailored talking points to reinforce the organization’s mission and updates across both internal and external channels.

We also elevated her and the nonprofit’s profiles through award submissions. These efforts resulted in Marsha’s recognition on Orlando Business Journal’s Most Influential Leaders list and Seniors First’s win at AFP’s National Philanthropy Day Awards. Additional submissions, including Florida Trend’s Florida 500, further positioned her as a respected and influential leader in the nonprofit sector.

By amplifying the visibility of the CEO, &Barr reinforced Seniors First’s credibility, strengthened relationships with stakeholders and expanded recognition of the organization as a trusted leader in senior support services.

Results and Lasting Impact

&Barr’s integrated strategy of media relations and executive support elevated awareness and understanding of Seniors First in Central Florida. The organization’s story reached millions, volunteers and donors are being inspired to engage, and its leadership received recognition that will continue to open doors for future partnerships.

Through this work, &Barr ensured Seniors First’s impact was not just felt but amplified, cementing the nonprofit’s role as a vital resource for aging adults in the community.
