In 2025, Space Coast Credit Union expanded into Orange County with new full-service branches in Waterford Lakes and Avalon Park. While SCCU has served Floridians since 1951 and operates more than 65 branches across 34 counties, Orlando posed a different challenge: strong competition and limited local awareness. National banks dominated the landscape. Regional players were already well established. And while SCCU already served nearly 28,000 members across Orange and Seminole Counties, most Orlando locals still weren’t familiar with the credit union.
The brand already had a pawprint. It just needed to leave a mark.
One Idea. Built to Travel Across Every Channel.
To stand out in a crowded market, SCCU needed more than two new branch openings. It needed a memorable way to introduce itself.
That’s where Watchdog came in: Orlando’s newest, and littlest, financial advocate. Watchdog gave the campaign a clear personality and a familiar face across paid media, organic social, and PR. Rather than letting each channel work separately, the campaign used Watchdog to make the rollout feel cohesive, memorable, and a pleasure to follow.
A Launch That Unfolded in Real Time
Phase 1: Intrigue (Pre-Launch)
The campaign didn’t start with a branch. It started with a box.
A mysterious, wiggling box appeared across digital ads, social, and landing pages, teasing that “someone” was inside. Paid media put it in front of people, while organic social kept the intrigue going and gave audiences something to talk about. At the same time, PR began introducing SCCU to the Orlando community and building trust around the expansion. Together, those efforts created anticipation and gave the brand a presence before the full reveal.
Phase 2: Reveal & Familiarity (Now Open)
Then Watchdog made his debut.
A strategic media plan ensured people saw the reveal, but that was only the beginning. Organic social picked it up from there and turned the campaign into an ongoing story. Through behind-the-scenes content, team member introductions, real-time updates, and influencer activations, SCCU started to feel less and less like a newcomer. PR and influencer outreach pushed that momentum even further, turning the reveal into something people could engage with, talk about, and share.
What started as a launch moment quickly became an ongoing story that gave people a chance to get to know SCCU ahead of opening day.
Phase 3: Trust & Community (Grand Opening)
Once awareness was in place, the focus shifted to trust.
PR helped lead that effort, bringing “Orlando’s Financial Watchdog” to life through media coverage, leadership visibility, and community partnerships. SCCU also launched its Partners in Purpose program locally, supporting organizations like Junior Achievement of Central Florida and the American Red Cross through donations, volunteer work, and ongoing involvement.
At the same time, organic social captured the real moments that made the launch feel tangible, from branch build-outs to grand opening celebrations, while paid media kept SCCU visible and helped drive traffic to the new locations.
