A Poem About
Media
A Poetic Reflection on the Power of Media
By: Chelsea Utley, Analytics Supervisor
Media, media, wherefore art thou media[1]
(a place where you always cite sources)
A beautiful, transient movement
That seems guided by invisible forces
Demand and intent and desire
We create or capture it all
Through your phone or your television or radio
The bench where you meet your cabal
These gentle, transparent strings
Tie the pieces of your life together
Combining your interests and needs
Into a cohesive, unbreakable tether
We find the message closest to your heart
And deliver it however you consume
You give us the seeds and we water them
Your life is a flower in bloom
Media finds you at a glance
On your screen or the drive to your home
You’ll listen or see or maybe hear
On a billboard or in Google Chrome
It can find you at your lowest
Or when you’re shining and just need a kick
So let media serve you today
It only takes a single click
